錯！其實，英文裡，有一些動詞，是表示一個時間點，且不表示「持續性」的舉動。
Get married 是很典型的例子。它表示在婚禮他答應她、她答應他、他們結了婚的***那個時間點***。意思就是在婚禮結了婚。
所以，用表示持續多久的 for, 說 they got married for five years, 聽起來他們的婚禮持續了 5 年！誰受得了這樣的婚禮？！正確的是：
They got married five years ago.
也可以說：
They have been married for five years.
Be married 可以搭配表示持續的 for, get married 不可以。

X Those two guys are good friends. They met for seven years.
英文裡，用 meet 來說友誼，通常表示你們第一次認識，握手、做個自我介紹、聊一聊你們的興趣等。是在一個時間點發生的事。說 they met for seven years 聽起來像是說他們第一次認識站在那裡握了七年的手！正確的說法應該是：
Those two guys are good friends. They met seven years ago.
或
Those two guys are good friends. They've known each other for seven years.
